Grant Althouse joined Kent Middle School in 2018 from a successful tenure as an elementary school principal, a middle school assistant principal, and fifth grade teacher in the Palo Alto Unified School District.

Grant holds a M.A. in education administration from Santa Clara University and a B.A. in English with a minor in education from U.C. Davis. Althouse has been a noted speaker on social emotional learning, inclusion, and middle school leadership at national educational conferences and completed courses on Next Generation Science Standards, social-emotional development, equity, reading, writing, and he attended Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education’s prestigious Art of Leadership program.

Wendy Holmes joins the Kentfield administrative team with extensive teaching and administrative experience in public education. She began her career as a third grade and fifth grade teacher for seven years before stepping into site leadership roles. For nine years, Wendy served as Assistant Principal and Principal of elementary schools in West Contra Costa USD and Albany USD, where she helped to positively impact student learning and wellness, as well as foster an inclusive culture in these schools.

With her passion for instructional leadership, Wendy accepted the position of Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Mill Valley School District, where she worked for six years to enhance the K-8th grade academic programs and bolster the instructional practices across the district.

Wendy is thrilled to be returning to the school site level and serving the students, staff, and families at Bacich and Kent as K-8 Assistant Principal. She is committed to building strong partnerships and collaborating together to ensure all students reach their fullest potential, and thrive both academically and social-emotionally in our schools.

Wendy earned a Bachelor’s in Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Michigan, and a Master’s in Education Administration from Saint Mary’s College of CA. She brings experience in curriculum selection and implementation, instructional and assessment best practices, supporting students through intervention programs, designing professional development, and integrating different practices and models to build equity in schools.
