March 14, 2019

Greetings Kent Community,

We are now officially in the third and final trimester of the 2018-2019 school year at Kent. This is an exciting time of year as teachers work to complete their instruction of key academic skills and content for their grade levels, and students synthesize and apply what they’ve learned on increasingly complex academic tasks. Our Falcons are truly taking flight!

I want to alert our Kentfield community of a slight procedural change regarding our back gate entrance to Kent from Stadium Way. Typically, this gate is opened at 2:30 p.m. each day to allow for children and families from Bacich to pass through Kent on their way home or to pick up older siblings. It is not possible for our staff to monitor this pedestrian traffic, and with Kent dismissing at 3:28 p.m., this opens our school to any person who wants to gain access for any reason while students are still at work in their classrooms. During a time when we need to be certain our campus is secure for the safety of our students, we will be pushing back the time when this gate is opened to 3:15 p.m. daily, and 1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. If your Bacich child uses this gate, perhaps you can take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend to walk the bike path that runs adjacent to Kent to show an alternate but very similar route. Thank you for your understanding.

Grades for the second trimester will be finalized in Aeries by the end of next week. Please use these markings with your child to understand their academic, social, and behavioral strengths, and to set achievable goals for the third trimester. It’s going to be a great one!
