Kent Principal Grant Althouse

Greetings Kent Middle School Students and Families,

This Thursday, November 12th, Kentfield School District will begin a hybrid instructional model with some students learning on campus each day, while other students learn from a distance. Students will continue to follow their same schedule with their same teachers throughout the hybrid instructional model. All students who have opted for hybrid instruction will be included in their assigned hybrid cohort.

We have worked to assign children to three different student cohorts within each homeroom. Students are assigned to either Cohort A (A), Cohort B (B), or Distance Learning Only (Z).

In an effort to ensure that each child can experience days of in person learning prior to Thanksgiving Break, we will follow the below schedule, starting this Thursday, November 12th. Monday and Tuesday of this coming week will continue to be Distance Learning only for all students.

November 12th (Thu.), 13th (Fri.), 16th (Mon.), and 17th (Tue.) Cohort A will report for in person learning, while Cohort B and Distance Learning Only (Z) learns from home.

On November 18th (Wed.) all students will distance learn following a typical Wednesday schedule.

November 19th (Thu.), 20th (Fri.), 23rd (Mon.), and 24th (Tue.) Cohort B will report for in person learning, while Cohort A and Distance Learning Only (Z) learns from home.

This schedule brings us to Thanksgiving Break, and the start of the second trimester. We will be in contact prior to Thanksgiving with information about the transition into the second trimester.

To learn your child's Cohort Assignment (Cohort A, Cohort B, or Distance Only-Z), please follow the below directions in Aeries.

In the Aeries Family Portal, choose Student Info > Demographics

Aeries Cohort Assignment

Your child will have an A, B, or Z in the DL Cohort Field, indicating assignment to Cohort A, Cohort B or Distance Learning Only (Z). If you are struggling to find this information in the mobile app, please try with an alternate device, or email me and I can confirm your child’s cohort assignment.

We will be in contact by the end of the day on Monday with a wealth of information regarding what to bring to school, safety procedures while at school, and helpful information to know in transition.

Please reach out to me with any clarifying questions or concerns. I look forward to welcoming students back to school starting November 12th!

All my best,
Grant Althouse
