Dear Families of 6th graders,

Next week your children will benefit from the Safe Routes to School program, which teaches students how to ride safely to school on their bike. This program involves two classes held during your child's regular P.E. period.

On Tuesday, October 8th, the students will experience the "Drive that Bike" classroom presentation.

On Friday, October 11th, the students get to put their skills to the test outside on the blacktop. We encourage you to have your child ride their bike to school that day and use their own bike during class. However, students do not have to own a bike to participate. Helmets and bikes will be available from Safe Routes to School.

At Kent Middle School, we believe in the collective impact our students can have in their community. We believe that taking a few cars off the road by having kids ride to school is one way to make our world better and greener. The bonus? Healthy kids!

Thanks for your support.

Best,

Jenny Walsh
Kent Assistant Principal
