Dear Kent Families,
Happy 2020-2021, Falcon Families! This year our theme is "Going the Distance," as we are all in this together! Because we are in a unique situation, many spirit and student activities are being revolutionized by our kiddos! Rather than a traditional student council, we will be launching a Student Leadership Board. This will be a panel of four leaders from each grade level who will meet one Friday a month during a zero period hour (8:25-8:55 a.m.) Not only will these grade level leaders have their finger on the pulse of their peers, but they will also be instrumental in putting together a distance learning yearbook. Applications can be found in the Student Leadership Google Classroom (if you don't have an access code, please contact me). These are due by Friday, September, 11th. Chosen leaders will be notified on Wednesday, September 16th. Our first meeting will be Friday, September 18th. Lead on, Falcons!
Another exciting spirit opportunity for kids to connect will be through our weekly Falcon Fêtes optional destination lunches! These are run by Ms. Carroll and Ms. Stephens as a continuation of the "Virtual Summer Camp" from this summer. Our first stop is Australia!
- Fifth and Sixth graders will have an opportunity to join a destination lunch every Monday from 1:40-2:10 p.m. starting Monday, Sept. 14.
- Seventh and eighth graders will have an opportunity to join a destination lunch every Thursday from 1:40-2:10 p.m. starting Thursday, Sept. 17.
We will "travel" to a new destination each week. While we are having a virtual lunch together, we will learn about that area's culture, food, and share fun facts. This is simply a way for kids to come together, connect and have lunch with each other from the comfort of their own homes on a weekly basis. Zoom links for each lunch will be posted in the Google Classroom (if you don't have an access code, please contact me).
Bring an appetite for adventure, and join us each week starting Monday, September 14th!
