Kent Named CA Distinguished School 2026

Yesterday, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond announced that Adaline E. Kent Middle School has once again been named a 2026 California Distinguished School, one of the state’s highest recognitions for public schools.

Kent Middle School received this honor in the Exemplary High Achievers category, recognizing schools with outstanding academic outcomes for all students and strong progress among historically underserved groups.

This recognition is especially meaningful for our community. Kent has now earned this distinction for the second time in consecutive selections and is one of only three middle schools in Marin County to receive the honor this year.

Most importantly, this recognition reflects the work of the people who make Kent such a special place — our dedicated educators and staff, and the remarkable Kent Falcon students who bring curiosity, effort, and care to their learning every day. We are incredibly proud of the Kent community.

While this award celebrates Kent Middle School, it also reflects the strength of our entire TK–8 journey in our Kentfield schools. The success we see at Kent is built on the strong academic and social foundations developed during students’ earlier years at Bacich and through the shared commitment of educators and families across our district.
