Student Council Officer Descriptions

President

  • The President is any eighth grade student with a end of seventh grade year GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • The responsibilities of the President are as follows:
  • Presides as Chairman over all Student Council Meetings.
  • Set agenda for Student Council Meetings.
  • Serve as a communication liaison for faculty (teachers, and administration) and the student body.
  • Run most student assemblies as needed, including but not limited to: Recognition Assemblies, Candy Court,End of Year Assembly.
  • Assist in coordinating any other student body activities as requested.

Co-Vice President(s)

The Co-Vice President(s) is/are any seventh or eighth grade student(s) with a previous end of year GPA of 2.5 or above.

The responsibilities of the Co-Vice President(s) are as follows:

  1. Replace the President in case of absence (to run Council meetings.)
  2. Chairman of the Dance Committee. This includes but is not limited to the following duties:
  • Recruit members of 7th/8th grade to join the Dance Committee.
  • Choose dates for Dance Committee Meetings; write up announcements for the bulletin.
  • Run Dance Committee Meetings; decide on theme.
  • Advertise for the Dance! (Bulletin, posters,etc.)
  • Sell tickets prior to the Dance at lunch.
  • Organize/purchase(for reimbursement) Snacks and Decorations for dances.
  • Organize decoration (set-up) and clean up crews for all dances.
  • Call and secure all parent chaperones.
  • Attend all Dances.
  • Complete thank you notes to all chaperones.

Co- Jr. Vice President(s)

The Co-Vice President(s) is/are any sixth or seventh grade student(s) with a previous end of year GPA of 2.5 or above.

The responsibilities of the Co-Vice President(s) are as follows:

  1. Replace the President in case of absence (to run Council meetings.)
  2. Chairman of the Scrapbook Committee. This includes but is not limited to the following duties:
  • Recruit members to join the Scrapbook Committee.
  • Choose dates for Scrapbook Committee Meetings.
  • Run Scrapbook Committee Meetings: write up announcements for bulletin.
  • Organize and design scrapbook pages.
  • Organize and collect all pictures for scrapbook pages.
  • Complete scrapbook before the end of the school year.

Secretary

The Secretary is any sixth, seventh or eighth grade student with a previous end of year GPA of 2.5 or above.

The responsibilities of the Secretary are as follows:

  1. Take the minutes at each Student Council meeting.
  2. Read back the minutes of the meeting BEFORE adjournment for Council approval.
  3. Provide the Student Advisor with the minutes at the end of each meeting.
  4. Chairman of the Spirit Committee. This includes but is not limited to the following duties:
  • Recruit members to join the Spirit Committee.
  • Choose dates for Spirit Committee Meetings; write up for bulletin.
  • Run Spirit Committee Meetings to decide on all Spirit Days.
  • Advertise all Spirit Days (posters, write up and/or interview for morning bulletin with the eighth grade technology class.)

Treasurer

The Treasurer is any sixth, seventh or eighth grade student with a previous end of year GPA of 2.5 or above.

The responsibilities of the Treasurer are as follows:

  1. Report to the Student Council the balance(s) of student activities account(s).
  2. Read all requested disbursements to the Council for approval.
  3. See to it that all disbursement forms have all required, authorized signatures, vote counts, and motions noted.
  4. Turn in completed disbursement forms to Student Advisor at the end of each Council meeting.
  5. Chairman of the Fundraiser Committee. This includes but is not limited to the following duties:
  • Recruit members to join the Fundraiser Committee
  • Choose dates for Fundraiser Committee Meetings
  • Run Fundraiser Committee Meetings to decide on any/all fundraiser ideas; write up for bulletin.
  • See approval of Administrator, Student Advisory and for any/all fundraiser ideas.
  • Present approved ideas to Council for ASB approval.
  • Organize and run all fundraising events (set up, clean up, cashiers, count/record money,etc.)
  • Advertise all Spirit Days (posters, morning bulletin – you complete the write up and/or interview.)

Sergeant – At Arms

The Sgt.at Arms is a fifth grade student, with a previous end of year GPA of 2.5 or above.

The responsibilities of the Sgt. at Arms are as follows:

  1. Efficiently take roll at each Student Council meeting and submit the roll sheet to the Student Advisor at the end of each meeting.
  2. Report absent student council representatives to their homeroom teachers. (Two missed meetings means dismissal from the position)
  3. Report all fifth grade activities at Student Council Meetings

School Mascot

Fierce the Falcon

The mascot is any seventh or eighth grade student or group of up to 3 (three)students, with a previous end of year GPA of 2.5 or above.

The responsibilities of the Mascot are as follows:

  1. Be present at all special school functions during school hours, or events as requested.
  2. Be present at home boys/girls games including, but not limited to: basketball, volleyball, flag football.*
  3. Lead the crowd in the "We Are Falcons" chant at sporting events

*Student(s)must resign position if they are unable to attend and/or successfully rotate to appear at home games.
